Naam (Receivable / Debit)·نام
Roman Urdu: Naam / Naam Nikalna
Naam is the traditional bahi-khata word for the DEBIT side of a party's account — a receivable, i.e. money the party owes the adhati. When a buyer (beopari) takes goods on credit (udhaar), the amount is written on the naam side of their khata, and the running naam balance is exactly what the adhati has to recover. In mandi speech 'tumhare naam nikalta hai' means 'this much shows against your name — you owe it'. In modern accounting terms, naam = a receivable / debtor balance.
