Growing up in Pakistan, I witnessed thousands of businesses manage millions of rupees using paper registers, handwritten ledgers, calculators and manual processes. From commission agents (Adhatis) and rice mills to cold storages, warehouses, dairy farms and traders, every business had its own way of working — yet most available software expected them to fit into the same generic ERP.

That disconnect inspired the creation of Pakka Khata. Our mission is to build software that feels familiar from the very first day. When a business owner opens Pakka Khata, they shouldn’t feel like they’re learning technology — they should feel like they’re using software built specifically for their business.

I began my career as a Full Stack Software Engineer, designing and building enterprise SaaS, ERP, CRM and FinTech platforms used by organizations across different industries. Over the past six years I’ve worked on secure banking systems, cloud-native SaaS applications, AI-powered platforms, ERP solutions and large-scale business applications using Node.js, NestJS, React, Next.js, PostgreSQL, AWS and modern cloud infrastructure.

Working with businesses across many industries taught me one important lesson: every business has unique workflows, but the problems they face are surprisingly similar. That realization became the foundation of Pakka Khata.

Most business software is built around features. We decided to build around businesses. Instead of asking a rice mill to use accounting software designed for retailers, or expecting a cold storage owner to understand generic inventory terms, Pakka Khata transforms itself based on the selected business.

Each business sees its own terminology, workflows, dashboards, reports, documents and operational processes — while sharing the same secure accounting and inventory platform behind the scenes. To the user, it feels like dedicated software built exclusively for their industry.

Pakistan’s agriculture and trading sectors power millions of livelihoods, yet many businesses still operate manually. Our goal isn’t simply to digitize records — it is to make technology accessible to every business owner, regardless of their technical background.

By using familiar language, business-specific workflows and intuitive interfaces, we aim to reduce the barriers that have prevented small and medium-sized businesses from adopting digital tools.
