Pakistani cold-storage rent is charged per bag, per month. The formula is: rent = per-bag monthly rate × number of bags × months stored — typically with a 25–50% advance collected on inward and the balance on outward.
What drives the per-bag rate?
The commodity and bag size. Potato, onion, apple, garlic and kinnow each carry typical per-bag monthly rates that vary by region and season, and every cold storage prices on its own chamber contract. Confirm net bag weight (40/50/100 kg) before quoting.
How is the advance handled?
Most operators take 25–50% upfront on inward and collect the balance when bags are outward. Tracking partial bag withdrawals against the advance is where manual registers slip — and where a per-lot ledger earns its keep.
