Jama (Payable / Credit)·جمع
Roman Urdu: Jama / Jama Hona
Jama is the traditional bahi-khata word for the CREDIT side of a party's account — a payable, i.e. money the adhati owes the party. A common case is a farmer (kissan) whose produce has been sold but not yet paid out: the sale proceeds sit on the jama side of their khata until settled. In mandi speech 'tumhara jama hai' means 'this much is credited to you — I owe it to you'. In modern accounting terms, jama = a payable / creditor balance, and is the mirror image of naam.
